Book Store Popping Up in CFB ISD Community
CFB ISD Council PTA Gently Used Book Sale Collection Drive is ON!
CFB ISD Council PTA is launching its 14th Annual Gently Used Book Sale. Preparations are underway now collecting gently used books, CDs, DVDs, Computer programs, games, puzzles.Community supporters are encouraged to bring their donations of any gently used items they would like to donate to any CFB ISD campus or to this year’s sale location.
This year the location will be at 2427 Carrick Street in Farmers Branch. This is CFB ISD’s Technology Learning Center (TLC) and is located directly north of the Dr. Pepper/Stars Skating Rink. The sale opens Friday February 27 and closes Sunday March 1st.
Diane Dobis, President of CFB Council PTA shared “We are excited to be in Farmers Branch in a CFB ISD building. Finding a commercial location with the right space, parking and other needs is challenging and this space will work great. It will be different, but change is sometimes good too. All proceeds from the sale benefit CFB ISD teachers, students and families through our PTA grants and training support. Throughout the years we have funded books for schools, scholarships for graduating high school seniors and campus grants for educators. We look forward to seeing many community partners at the book sale too.”
This year’s chair is Sue Avery. She is working with each campus to secure fresh inventory and volunteers to make this a terrific sale. “Each year we are blessed with thousands of terrific items to buy and hundreds of outstanding community volunteers. Volunteers will be working at the site Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-2pm and 7pm-9pm. Sundays we will be there from 1 – 5 pm.”
PTA Council provides support, training and organization for the 30 local PTA units throughout CFB ISD. The Gently Used Book Sale is one of the largest all-volunteer community literacy events in the area. Look for more information as February 27th approaches!
