Carrollton-Farmers Branch Council PTA will provide an opportunity for voters to meet the candidates for the C-FB ISD Board of Trustees. Candidates running for office in the cities of Carrollton, Farmers Branch and Irving have also been invited to participate in the Forum on Monday April 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the District administration building, 1445 North Perry Road in Carrollton.

Two positions are up for election this year:

Place 1 Candidates: James Goode, Karin Webb

Place 2: Incumbent Nancy Cline is unopposed.

C-FB ISD serves portions of six north Texas communities: Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Dallas, Irving, Coppell and Addison. The largest number of students reside in Carrollton (14,200 – 54%) with Farmers Branch and Irving each having approximately 3,900 each – 15% each. (The balance of students reside primarily in Dallas and Coppell.)Therefore, candidates from these three communities have been invited to participate in this event. Susan Scott, former president of C-FB ISD Council PTA will moderate the panels, Time permitting, there will also be an opportunity for the guests to interact with the candidates.

Early voting for the May 10 election begins April 28.

Carrollton-Farmers Branch Council PTA provides coordination and training for all of the local PTA units on the 37 C-FB ISD campuses and centers. In addition, the Council raises funds through the annual Gently Used Book Sale for the following programs:

  • PTA Clothes Closet which provides clothing to students and families in need;
  • Teacher grants to support student achievement;
  • Post Prom which provides a safe environment for our teens during this event;
  • Student scholarships;
  • Training for PTA campus leaders;
  • Family engagement/education programs on the campuses;
  • Healthy Lifestyles initiatives such as Red Ribbon Week
  • Reflections competitions which recognizes achievements in the Fine Arts.

Affiliated with the Texas and National PTA, C-FB Council PTA is a member of the largest child-advocacy organization in the nation. PTA assists parents in developing skills they need to raise and protect their children and encourage public involvement in the public schools. PTA is a non-commercial, nonsectarian, nonpartisan organization that does not endorse any candidate or political party.
