We will be practicing mindfulness meditation Sunday, September 17 from 4pm to 5pm. The session will be led by certified mindfulness teacher Sheela Singla, PhD, CMT-P. Free, or donation by choice
You can choose to sit on the floor on a cushion (some cushions will be available if you don't have your own) or in a chair (chairs available).
Please see https://presenceisherenow.com for more on mindfulness and/or to donate.
I define mindfulness as paying attention to our present moment experiences with kindness, curiosity, and non-judgment, while seeing things as they are.
Mindfulness/Insight meditation is a practice in which we gain knowledge based on our own direct experiences.
Please don’t take my or others’ teachings as facts; rather, practice present-moment awareness and see what you find. Please take from here what’s helpful and leave the rest.
For this session, we will be practicing awareness of the sensations of the breath, other body sensations, or the sounds around us in the present moment, with guidance.
Scientific studies have shown that mindfulness can reduce stress, increase positive emotions, and lead to a variety of physiological changes, such as improved immune system function and lowered blood pressure.
